$25,000 Grant for Student Enterprise

Five information technology students were recipients of a $25,000 JCEL Student Seed Capital Keystone Innovation Zone (KIZ) grant. Student entrepreneurs Kuba Szulacskowski, Aimee Rienaker, Elizabeth Donovan, Michael Cassatt and David Lamberson accepted the grant to start Techno-Mango, LLC, a software/web design/R&D firm. Revitalization Award

John Hille, Juniata College vice president of enrollment and retention, expressed, “Before the College began work to create the Sill Business Incubator, the Alfarata School was a rapidly deteriorating eyesore that looked like a prison.  We appreciate the recognition from the Planning Commission of the hard work that has made the Incubator an inviting place to grow a business and an attractive asset to the neighborhood.” (read more)

The Bob & Eileen Sill Business Incubator unveiled a new logo. Office space, wet lab and light assembly space are available at the Incubator. (read more)

Something Sunny Branches Into Greeting Cards

“I definitely love doing these cards because they were different, and people said they really liked the designs.”  The new product sells for $15.99 per batch of 20 cards, with a few different drawings created by Caitlin. (read more)

Luxury Chocolate Business Continues to Grow

Cocoa Chocolates, LLC is a small luxury chocolate business. Making chocolates started as an expensive hobby. To off-set the cost, Hannah Long started selling her chocolates through her chef apprenticeship. She decided to make her hobby into a business when she came to Juniata College. (read more)

JC Senior "Frames" New Business

There's something sunny these days at Juniata College. And it's not just the weather.

Senior Caitlin Bigelow runs a business called Something Sunny, an operation that produces bright colored, hand painted picture frames with a sunflower pattern in the corner. (read more)

Greener Leasing, LLC

Greener Leasing, LLC is a start-up business founded by Juniata College Student Doug Jackson in the fall of 2008.  The business offers students the opportunity to rent eco-friendly Energy Star approved MicroFridges and provides its customers with a one of a kind moving service that is not offered by competitors.
