Restructuring of JCEL and HCBI
The management agreement between Huntingdon County Business and Industry, Inc. (HCBI) and JCEL has recently been restructured, resulting in the separation of HCBI and JCEL. Beginning January 1st, Juniata College and JCEL will no longer have managerial and administrative control over HCBI. (read more)
JCEL Receives Coleman Funding
Earlier this year, JCEL was selected to receive a $15,000 grant from the Coleman Foundation in order to develop and facilitate the inclusion of entrepreneurship/self-employment curriculum into non-business disciplines. Three Juniata College professors were asked to participate in the program; they are Bethany Benson (Assistant Professor of Art), Uma Ramakrishnan (Assistant Professor of Environmental Science), and Bill Thomas (Associate Professor of Information Technology). CEO Conference 2010
This past month, six Juniata College students attended the annual Collegiate Entrepreneurs’ Organization (CEO) conference held at Chicago‘s beautiful Hyatt Regency McCormick Place. The three day conference featured numerous distinguished speakers, informative sessions, and networking events. (read more)
JCEL Launches New Web Site
Those who have ventured passed the Bob and Eileen Sill Business Incubator in the past year have noticed the ongoing renovation of what they used to know as an old, rundown school building. Today, a visit to the Sill Business Incubator reveals its new offices, new tenants and a new parking lot. While most of the changes are to the building itself, one upcoming change is something that can only see on the World Wide Web. (read more)
JCEL Enters High School Classrooms
Beginning in the fall of 2010, JCEL, in conjunction with Junior Achievement, will be in the business classes throughout the four local high schools and introduce and teach a program entitled “Be Entrepreneurial”. (read more)
Eagle Furniture Exchange, LLC
Eagle Furniture Exchange is a start-up business that was founded by Juniata College student, Cheryl Mariani, in the spring of 2010. The business acts as an intermediary service between Juniata students looking to buy or sell gently used furniture. (read more)
Pearl BioScience
Founded in 2005 by Juniata College Professor Dr. Michael Boyle, Mark W. DuMars of State College, PA, APDLS (a company located in State College), and Juniata College, Pearl Biosciences, LLC is currently developing five initial products, consisting of manufactured binding proteins, based on a new technology.
