Revitalization Award

The Sill Business Incubator received the 2010 Revitalization Award from the Huntingdon County Planning Commission and Huntingdon County Chamber of Commerce. Annual Community Improvement Awards are based on both the positive visual and environmental impact of the project.

John Hille, Juniata College vice president of enrollment and retention, expressed, “Before the College began work to create the Sill Business Incubator, the Alfarata School was a rapidly deteriorating eyesore that looked like a prison.  We appreciate the recognition from the Planning Commission of the hard work that has made the Incubator an inviting place to grow a business and an attractive asset to the neighborhood.”

Phase II renovations on the second floor created over 4,000 square feet of office and wet lab space. The project involved a new rubber roof, replacement windows, razing the multipurpose room, removing lead and asbestos, installing new HVAC, plumbing, electric, wallboard, drop ceilings, interior and exterior doors, interior finishes, access alarm system, parking, exterior walks and landscaping.
